Monte Acuto
Monte Acuto
There was a time when Monte Acuto was a mysterious rock, a sort of atoll suspended over the sea, surrounded by the contours of hills with pine trees lined up along their ridges, making them look like the crests of prehistoric beasts.
There was a time when Monte Acuto was surrounded by a vast sea, from which only a few areas of land emerged, crossed by bubbling streams and inhabited by all kinds of animals.
There was a time when the waters receded, the land rose, and new scenery was born. Carved out by the waters, corroded by the winds, shaped from nothing, this is how the Roero’s rich and generous vineyard landscape developed.
Then there was the time when Monte Acuto guarded this territory, ruling it, becoming home to a mysterious castle, to which it gave its name, protecting it from attack and making it great.
There was a time when emperors asked for asylum here, and were granted it, the land changed owners and loved them, protected them. Monte Acuto now becomes grappa and gives that grappa its name. It is shaped from the selection of the finest marc from this area. A tribute paid by the Berta family to the hospitable and generous Roero region. The result is a precious distillate.
