Ròndena

Ròndena

There is an Italian saying according to which one swallow doesn’t mean it’s spring, but when we catch sight of that tiny black V-shape in the sky, we start to feel the light, sparkling emotion of nature being reborn.

The swallows are hungry for travel, for places still unknown, for lands yet to be discovered, but in order to rest and give birth to their young, they take refuge under the roofs of the houses, in the warmth, surrounded by the cheerful buzz of the families who live in those houses. The black-blue of their feathers gives its name to the Rondinella (the Italian for Swallow), one of the grape varieties that make up Amarone della Valpolicella, a very fertile grape, resistant to hot weather and drought; and our Riserva di Amarone is dedicated to the swallow, which announces spring when it arrives in flocks.
