Chardonnay is a white grape variety grown in virtually all wine-growing areas of the world but originating in France. In addition to being the star of some excellent wines in which chardonnay is the only grape variety used, it is also used in blends with, for example, Pinot noir and Pinot blanc to make Champagne, Trentodoc and Franciacorta. In Italy, excellent chardonnays can be found in virtually all Italian wine regions.
