Swallows: small, light birds that bless homes and cross the borders of regions and states with the quick beating of their wings. Beloved by poets, celebrated in works of art, children’s fairy tales and short stories, their deep-blue-black back has also inspired the name of a grape variety: it is the Rondinella. Rondinella is a little gem for wine enthusiasts, half-unknown to most because it is practically never used in purity; combined with Corvino and Corvinone, however, it gives rise to one of Italy’s most famous and appreciated wines, Amarone della Valpolicella.
